Freedom’s Feast Thanksgiving Dinner Plate Collection Uses Makit Plates to Showcase Artwork
In the mist of the hustle and bustle of the holidays we sometimes don’t have time to remember the true meaning of it all. The Children’s Museum of Manhattan helps families to reflect on the meaning of the Holidays. This past Thanksgiving they invited artists and children’s book illustrators to create original artworks reflecting what they cherished about Thanksgiving and their American Freedoms. CMOM transferred the artwork onto dinner plates by Makit, for this unique way to showcase the works.

They were created as part of Raising Citizens, a partnership between CMOM and Freedom’s Feast a year round public program inspiring families to explore our democratic tradition and their family stories through celebrations of major American holidays. Engaging activities at CMOM and at home allow families to experience renewed meaning in our civic calendar and turn what is usually time off into meaningful time on to help raise the next generation of citizens.

Makit Products Very First Blog
Makit is excited to start their first Blog and begin sharing with the world wonderful ideas that you can do with our melamine plates.
Makit began as the creation of Bob Hodges in 1969. One day a neighbor, who was a teacher said, “Wouldn’t it be fantastic to capture kids’ artwork on something useful, instead of it falling off the refrigerator and throwing it out?” With a background in plastics and dinnerware manufacturing Bob saw an opportunity to create a craft medium that children and parents would love. The Make A Plate was born. School teachers across the country continue to use our products for class art projects and family traditions have sprung up as generations create designs that become treasured heirlooms.
Today we are amazed to see all the ideas and creativity that goes in hand with our melamine plates. From children crafts to creative personalized melamine plates. Here we will share with you what wonderful ideas come across our desk.
